Site Resources was honored by the Maryland Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (MD ASLA) with a Merit Award for its design of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Library Pond. Originally designed in the late 1960’s, Library Pond has functioned as a fundamental node of the pedestrian campus core for decades.

The pond serves as a soft contrast to the 1968 Brutalist architecture of the adjoining Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery, a dominant campus building. The addition of the stormwater forebay, boulders, trees and sweeping drifts of shrubs, perennials and grasses emphasizes the natural edge of the re-envisioned pond, promenade and plaza spaces. As a confluence for water quality, wildlife habitat and social engagement, Library Pond is an inviting and accessible campus destination.
