R.V. Truitt Laboratory Design Team Recognized for Structure’s Sustainable Approach
The U.S. Green Building Council Maryland revealed the winners of the 2017 Community Leader Awards at the annual Wintergreen Awards Celebration. This year USGBC recognized the R.V. Truitt Laboratory Building in the Green Schools: Higher Education category.
Sited on the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science campus in Solomons, MD the design project was led by architectural firm, Richter Cornbrooks Gribble. This new 21,455 GSF state-of-the-art laboratory building received LEED silver certification with a scorecard value of 54/110. The building is named in honor of Reginald Van Trump Truitt, a zoologist who founded the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, the forerunner to the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science.
This is the second consecutive Green Schools: Higher Education award winner for which Site Resources was partnered and provided civil engineering and landscape architectural design. Last years’ recipient was the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons Building on the campus of Salisbury University in Maryland.
